Course Description
This 6 CE workshop is for licensed psychologists, MFT’s, LCSW’s and therapists that will allow them to develop a solid understanding of recent changes in psychopharmacology and the treatment implications for their clients. This course will discuss the importance of the therapist’s role in understanding the common psychotropic medications, the role psychotropic drugs play in protecting and healing the brain, inform them of the most recent updates for antidepressant medication treatment for children and teenagers, discuss differential diagnosis and treatment for childhood onset bipolar disorder, explain new diagnostic criteria for bipolar spectrum disorders (DSM-5), empirically derived treatment guidelines for ADHD, experimental treatments for PTSD, and new studies on over-the-counter products such as St. John’s Wort, Omega-3 fatty acids, and SAM-e.
